Xiinxala Itti Fayyadama Afaanii: Gaazexaa Kallacha Oromiyaa Irratti Kan Xiyyeeffate

Abstract

The purpose ofthis study was to investigate the languge use (Afan Oromo) in news papers with special reference to Kallacha Oromia. To this end, five news papers (newspaper published from October 1, 2013 E.C to Feburary 30, 2013 E.C one newspaper from each month) and three Afan Oromo journalists participated in the study through purposive sampling technique. In this study, qualitative research design was used to collect data such as interview and document analysise using themes.The study showed that repetation of words and using different figurative speech were identified. Further more, several defects in sentence construction were found. The findings also suggest that before publication and desiminating the news paper for public use, concerned bodies need to edit thoughrouly the newspapers.
